Summary: Things You Should Hear

There's a lot of good stuff this week. (Yes, we say it every week. Yes, it's always true.)

One thing that stands out about this week is a slew of NEW MUSIC coming our way via ALBUM RELEASE SHOWS of AMAZING LOCAL ARTISTS. For example:

There's also some very cool things happening this week, like Tuesday's Musician Health & Wellness Workshop at Rockville's School of Musical Traditions for all the artists out there who could use some tips on how to take care of your body and mind while playing your instrument.

And a HUGE highlight is Sunday's Nevertheless, She Persisted - Music of America's Women Composers at The Church of the Epiphany, where "California-based composer Jenni Brandon will conduct the DC premiere of her America Belongs to Us, a work about welcoming immigrants who come to America seeking a better life, in collaboration with the Columbia Flute Choir. Also joining the line-up is African-American singer/song-writer/social activist Crys Matthews and dancers Davione Gordon, Corey Vansice, Helen Hayes and the women of Joy of Motion's Youth Dance Ensemble for an inspirational autumn arts experience."

This is  a not-to-be-missed show that's bringing together many voices, and some of the most passionate artists and youth for an important, eye, ear, and mind-opening performance.

Plus many, many more great shows and cool things to check out this week. All are listed in the links below, with personal choices in bold, along with a list of the DCMR staff top picks and cool "gems" that you will likely love.

So much brand-spanking new music, get it while it's fresh!
