Gypsy Sally’s Announces Closure In January

October 25, 2019

Gypsy Sally's announced they will be closing up for good in January. In a statement posted to Facebook, they said "our landlord recently sold the building where we have resided since 2013. It will be developed into condominiums. With great sadness, Gypsy Sally's will have its final load-out on January 5th, 2020."

Since opening in 2013, this venue has provided something of a cultural hub, hosting a wide range of musicians on their main stage and in the Vinyl Lounge bar. Some of the bigger touring bands like Turkuaz, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, Leftover Salmon, and Ghost Light have all graced their main stage. John Kadlecik cemented their status as a go-to dead hangout in 2014 when he announced a run of Tuesday shows that sold out almost immediately. They also hosted weekly open mics, run by Silky Dave in the Vinyl Lounge, and Gordon Sterling's Gypsysally's Jam nearly every other week on the main stage.

Until January, Gypsy Sally's assured everyone that things will be business as usual. And their statement teased upcoming news, saying, "Stay tuned for info in the coming weeks regarding John Kadlecik's plans for our final show."

Their full statement:

As you may have heard, our landlord recently sold the building where we have resided since 2013. It will be developed into condominiums. With great sadness, Gypsy Sally's will have its final load-out on January 5th, 2020. Until then, we plan on conducting business as usual with a full calendar of great music for you to enjoy. Stay tuned for info in the coming weeks regarding John Kadlecik's plans for our final show. It is only fitting that John should preside over our send off, and we are honored that he will be hosting our closing festivities.

To our employees, fans, patrons, musicians, promoters, friends and families, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you for your support over these last 7 years. We are privileged that Gypsy Sally's was your go-to-place for music, friendship, and gathering. Thank you for giving us this chance of a lifetime and for walking on this journey with us. We hope to see you in the coming weeks so that we have the opportunity to thank you in person and maybe swap a few memories. It has truly been a long, strange, and wonderful trip...Peace, David and Karen.
