Three bands joined forces on the stage at Pearl Street Warehouse on October 18th to launch The Moran Tripp’s Band's newest single featuring Daphne Eckman and to kick off the start of Daphne’s tour across the US with diet lemon.
The evening at Pearl Street was electric, beginning with the indie duo diet lemon, who kicked things off with a minimalist but potent energy. Despite their stripped-down setup, they delivered a magnetic set, pairing soft, understated guitar riffs with dynamic, punchy vocals. Their vibe was distinctively indie, with upbeat percussion and breakdowns that got the crowd moving and set the energy for the rest of the night. In addition to singing a set stacked with originals, including their most recent single ‘Think You Are’ and their most popular song ‘Melt’ the duo surprised the crowd with a rendition of MGMT’s ‘Time to Pretend.’ The mustache-wearing power duo will be joining Daphne and her band on their tour across the country.
Next, Daphne Eckman took the stage kicking off the first night of her tour and immediately drew the crowd’s attention with “Improvement,” her latest single. The song’s introspective lyrics struck a chord with the audience, and the seamless harmonies between Daphne and her bassist, Graham Furniss, filled the room with a warmth and familiarity that only years of collaboration could foster. Daphne continued through her powerful setlist winning over the crowd with her playful banter and sharing inspiration behind some of her biggest hits. A notable highlight was when Daphne introduced a song inspired by the reality TV show Love Island, sharing how she turned to the show to distract herself from a tough breakup.
Throughout her set, the band’s chemistry consistently drew the audience in, from beautiful banjo textures to encapsulating guitar solos. The band, which Daphne refers to as “her ladies,” filled the room of Pearl Street with undeniable magic.
Eckman’s showmanship shone when she invited the audience to spin a “wheel of covers.” The wheel landed on “Night Shift” by Lucy Dacus, a choice that thrilled the crowd. In this intimate moment, she invited fans to come closer, creating a cozy, communal vibe in the room. She closed with “Acupuncture,” the NPR Tiny Desk gem that recently hit 200,000 Spotify streams, a fact she proudly shared. It was a fitting end to a set brimming with humor, relatability, and undeniable talent.
Ending out the night, The Moran Tripp Band took the energy in a different, but equally captivating, direction. With a rock-folk twist, the band’s opening song immediately set the stage for their rootsy, Americana vibes. Loyal fans soon formed on the checkered floor, moving in sync to the rhythm. Lead singer Ryan Moran “Living the Dream” T-shirt spoke to the laid-back, authentic energy he brought to the stage.
As the set progressed the band’s rough, country-tinged vocals paired with the gritty rock instrumentation created a soundscape that was raw and emotionally resonant. Songs about Tennessee lovers, honky-tonk rhythms, and sultry, guitar-led melodies transported the crowd to another place and time. During one particular song, the venue transformed as couples joined in a romantic dance, immersing themselves in the storytelling and the swooning guitar riffs that accompanied it.
Towards the end of the band’s set, they invited Daphne back on the stage to accompany the band in performing their joint release ‘There Ain’t No Road’. Daphne’s soft and soulful voice, paired with the rasp of Ryan’s, transported the crowd back in time as the two voices blended on top of a whining guitar tone. The joint release is not one to miss and is now available on all streaming platforms.
Pearl Street’s intimate atmosphere, paired with three incredibly engaging performances, made for a memorable night where indie, folk, and Americana seamlessly collided.
