Festival season isn't over quite yet, and last weekend we made it to Clarksburg, MD for the Hometown Get Down. Cris Jacobs and Steal Your Peach headlined the main stage to cap off two days of near nonstop music from DMV bands on two stages by the water.
The weekend saw a handful of sit-ins, including Cris Jacobs joining the Dirty Grass Players for their last couple songs, and Gordon Sterling and Mary Lankford joining Staycation for a cover of 'After Midnight' to close out their set. We were on hand all weekend to livestream every set on both stages. You can find all our livestream recordings below, as well as some tracked out audio (we'll update this article with more audio as it gets uploaded) and photos by DC Music Review contributors Will Urquhart and Mark Raker.
Although it rained in the middle of each night throughout the weekend, the weather cleared each day in time for the music. And rain all day Sunday made for a muddy load out, but festival organizers had more than enough tractors and hard-working volunteers on hand to pull every vehicle out making the process about as smooth as can be (and we sure did appreciate that!).
The main purpose of The Hometown Get Down is to help families in crisis through promoting the arts. Event proceeds as always go to benefit The Bernie House. The Bernie House is a transitional housing program for families fleeing domestic violence. It's mission is to “provide a safe home without violence for families in crisis.” The program house is located in Silver Spring, MD and aids families in need from the metropolitan area.
