While this can be a joyous time for some, it can be a hard time for others. Music can be a salve when the expectations of the New Year starts to feels challenging. But sometimes it isn't enough. We at DCMR want to share the following resources for anyone who may be feeling depressed or suicidal, this time or year, or anytime:
- The Crisis Text Line: If you text 741741, a crisis worker will text you back immediately and continue to text with you. It's a FREE 24/7 service to ANYONE who lives in the U.S. Every texter is connected with a Crisis Counselor, a real-life human being trained to bring texters from a hot moment to a cool calm through active listening and collaborative problem solving. All of Crisis Text Line's Crisis Counselors are volunteers, donating their time to helping people in crisis. Read more here.
- Suicide Prevention Lifeline: The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is a national network of local crisis centers that provides FREE and confidential emotional support to people in suicidal crisis or emotional distress 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Call 1-800-273-8255.
Please take care of yourselves and each other.
Wishing you even more music in 2019!
