If you are a fan of the blues, music history, and perhaps the best finger picking in the DMV then you have undoubtedly heard of Washington DC's native son Jonny Grave. Grave is one of the true musical gems and treasures in our community who has performed at hundreds of local and national venues including the red dirt floor of Gip's Juke Joint to the red carpet of the Kennedy Center.
When Grave was growing up in Washington DC along with his musical family, Grave was introduced to the sounds of American traditional folk music. At age fifteen was learning slide guitar techniques from old Blues records. The rest is music history - by seventeen he was performing them live.
Grave has delighted blues fans across the country with his solo performances and bands that include Jonny and The Tombstones, and the Jonny Grave Trio.
Last week Grave released his latest EP, Jonny Grave Trio - Live at the Luce Foundation Center, Smithsonian American Art Museum. The trio consists of Jonny Grave on Guitar, Adam Sahforth on Drums, and Kevin DeSouza on Bass.
