It is hard to imagine how quickly live music is coming back. At times it feels like a glorious and exciting tidal wave of concert announcements crash down upon us. Added to all this great news, 2020 reshuffled concert dates like no other time in recent history. With so much information coming our way, you might have missed out on an artist coming through town that might not have been on your radar.
One such performance is the upcoming two-night appearance of Molly Tuttle with Rachel Baiman at The Birchmere in Alexandria, Virginia. This performance in particular was part of the great reshuffle of 2020 and may have been overlooked by you.
While many of us know award-winning artist Molly Tuttle, her supporting act Rachel Baiman might be a hidden gem to some but is definitely one to watch. If you are a fan of badass female multi-instrumentalists that can carry timely and important social messages through music, you will love Baiman. She sounds like Gillian Welch's voice, John Hartford's songwriting, Woody Guthrie's social consciousness, and Alison Krauss' fiddle. With her 2017 debut Shame, Rachel Baiman emerged as a fearless voice of the American female experience. "Shame" was featured on NPR's "Songs We Love", called a "Rootsy Wake-up Call" by Folk Alley, and described by Vice's "Noisey" as "flipping off authority one song at a time."
We are looking forward to seeing both Molly Tuttle and Rachel Baiman in concert later this week. You will definitely want to keep Rachel Baiman on your radar, and what's more, you should go see these two brilliant artist perform as well.
Tickets for Thursday's performance is sold out, but tickets are still available for Friday's performance. Who knows, maybe we will be treated to some new music from her forthcoming album Cycles due June 11th via Signature Sounds.
