The Greensky Bluegrass Weekend at Washington DC's Wharf continues. Greensky Bluegrass just announced the dates for their 2025 Winter Tour, and we couldn't be more excited.
This five-piece progressive bluegrass jam band from Michigan is coming to The Anthem in Washington, DC, for two nights of music on Friday, February 7th, and Saturday, February 8th, for the biggest weekend of bluegrass in DC.
The two-night run at The Anthem has become an annual tradition on The Wharf as this group has performed there every year since 2018 - pandemic years withstanding. The Washington Metro Area has hosted Greensky Bluegrass countless times since they formed more than twenty years ago, including performances at the 8x10, 9:30 Club, The Hamilton, Pier Six Pavilion, Wolf Trap, Hot August, and the opening of The Chrysalis, to name just a few.
In 2018, Greenksy Bluegrass decided to put their tent stakes down at The Anthem and hoist up rigging for the grandest of indoor jamboree tents that would play host to 6,500 campers. These campers, under the tutelage of camp directors Dave Bruzza (guitar), Paul Hoffman (mandolin), Michael Bont (banjo), Anders Beck (dobro), and Mike Devol (bass), would spend nights singing along to spectacular camp tunes and reveling in the energy that is a Greensky Bluegrass concert. Nights at The Anthem are made ever more spectacular by their Lighting Director, Andrew Lincoln. Witnessing Greensky Bluegrass at the largest indoor venue has its advantages, as Lincoln has the largest room in the country to light up with his world-class mastery of lighting systems. Come for the music of Greensky Bluegrass, and stay for the bedazzling and face-melting light show put on by Lincoln.
Over the years, Greensky Bluegrass has brought some of the biggest and brightest stars in music to help them fuel nights of extraordinary music. The boys at GSBG have brought some ferocious talent, including the likes of Billy Strings, Molly Tuttle, Daniel Donato, and The Infamous Stringdusters, to name a few. Last year, the original Bonedigger himself, Cris Jacobs, waited in the wings before walking on stage to perform "Bonedigger" alongside our beloved GSBG.
Greensky Bluegrass has not announced their supporting acts for their 2025 Winter Tour - but rest assured, we look forward with giddy delight for further news. We trust in Greensky Bluegrass - they always seem to bring the best supporting acts with them to The Anthem.
On a personal note to our DC community - Whatever you may be feeling right now in Washington, DC, just look forward to the distant winter horizon when we can all be together as one to embrace one another and cherish the music of Greensky Bluegrass together.
it's harder to keep
my gaze off the floor
when rest isn't restful anymore
as if my mind is not racing
the length of the day
lord take these stress dreams away
Greensky Bluegrass // Stress Dreams
We look forward to leaning into the roaring music of Greensky Bluegrass in February 2025 as they once again fill The Anthem with radiating joy and light.
