"Not only are the lyrics encapsulating a vulnerability that can only be experienced if you've been in a deep, earth-shattering love, but the instrumentals speak volumes in and of themselves." - Indie Shuffle
Psychedelic dream pop group Amo Amo is taking to the 9:30 Club stage for a double feature this Friday, May 17 and Saturday, May 18.
In a unique twist, the band will open for the individual responsible for producing their new record: Jim James (of My Morning Jacket). The group, comprised of queer vocalist Love Femme, Omar Velasco, Justin Flint, Shane Mckillop, and Alex Siegel, got together with James for an impromptu session in Los Angeles in 2017.
What followed was an experience for the books. Venturing out to the vineyards of California with James for five months, the group took advantage of the lack of cell service to spur their creativity. The result? A collection of soulful, enchanting pop tracks.
Legendary mastering engineer Bob Ludwig (Led Zeppelin, Frank Ocean, Nirvana, Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney) reflected on his experience working with Amo Amo, stating,
“Rarely do I come across a new band with as strong a sense of self-identity as Amo Amo...their live show is ecstatic."
Curious to witness their live show? Grab a ticket to one of the two nights the band is in D.C. to witness what is sure to be an epic night—of course, two-day passes are available for those ready to get funky.
