The legendary DC music venue, Blues Alley, which many believed to have closed as a casualty of the pandemic is back, bigger and better. Those who mourned it's passing now have the opportunity to revisit the club and support DC's vibrant music scene as it reopened last night in its original Georgetown location.
The acoustic, multilingual, world-jazz, DC-based band VERONNEAU kicked off the celebration last night as part of their 4-night residency through Sunday night, September 19th.
Fronted by French Canadian vocalist Lynn Veronneau and her English husband guitarist Ken Avis are veterans of many sold-out shows at the Alley, "The atmosphere was electric and the whole Blues Alley team were wonderful," said Avis. "It was so nice to see friends old and new in the audience and we thank everyone for coming out to celebrate live music in this legendary club." For their Blues Alley shows, they are joined by Karine Chapdelaine, Lucas Ashby, and their long-time collaborator, virtuoso jazz violinist Dave Kline.
We at DC Music Review are so happy to hear that Blues Alley is back at their original, one-of-a-kind location and are excited to support the incredible local and visiting musicians who grace it's humble yet vibrant stage.
