DC Music Review Celebrates Two Years

DC Music Review Celebrates Two Years

Can you believe it has been two years? Neither can we!

On November 3, 2017, DC Music Review turned on the lights with our first article. It has been a surreal adventure since those early days with countless hours behind a computer monitor building up this website. There is one thing that remains as true then as it does now - endless enjoyment of music, unending passion for bringing you the best concert coverage and news as we can, and recognizing the value of our local community. We have always tried to meet our core mission, to:

  • Provide World Class Coverage of National Acts
  • Provide World Class Coverage of Local Acts
  • Support the Music Community
  • Treat ourselves as the consumers of our own material. (DC Music Review staff are huge music fans, and we want to read & watch concerts as much as you do.)

Before we reflect on our accomplishments, we want first to thank each and every person who comes to DCMR for their music needs. Without you, none of this would be possible - you are our muse - you are the ones who inspire all of our hard work. You inspire us to get to a venue early, stay late, weather the storms and drive back home into the dawn.

As we reflect upon our amazing second year, it is quite staggering and humbling to see all that we have been able to accomplish and bring to you. In our earliest days, we had a few dedicated members who would scramble from one concert to another and should "you do the photos, I do the review." As our success grew, some amazing and gifted people joined our team, and last year was no exception. We have done coverage during the hottest of days, the rainiest of nights, and had adventures traveling to and from concerts and festivals. There have been many memorable moments along the way or as Jim Morrison might have said it best, "Weird Scenes Inside the Gold Mine."

We go out in stormy weather
We rarely practice discern
We make love to some weird sin
We seek out the taciturn

And that's the way we get by
The way we get by
Oh, that's the way we get by
The way we get by

// "The Way We Get By"  - Spoon from Kill the Moonlight (2002)

We always keep our humble beginnings in mind and keep in mind and recognized that although we are so lucky to do what we do, we serve you - the artists and the music lovers in the community, and the community itself. Without you none of our success would be possible.

It is our earnest belief that our success started off from modest and dedicated beginnings, and with hard work, it has grown. We continue to find new ways to deliver world-class content to you and will continue to do so. We love seeing national and international touring acts, but you know what gives us even greater pride - seeing the success of the artists in our own community. We cheer for the amazingly gifted and driven people throughout the DMV - your success is our success, and we cheer in the success of EVERYONE!

In 2017 we established a small little encampment in this musical community and were welcomed by everyone. As we continue to grow, we continue to hold onto our roots and our core values. Just as we started out as a small music outlet, we recognize that many years ago there was a small roman encampment along the river Thames named Londinium. From those humble beginnings, this small encampment is now referred to as London.

Thank you for joining us on our journey, and we look forward to many days and nights of celebration and music ringing in the air. We wanted to list a few things below that we are proud of:
