Like everyone else, we wish that we were all gathered in Cumberland, Maryland to give everyone a DelBow and shout DelYeah! as we roamed and enjoyed DelFest 2020. We can still smell the early morning airy as we get out of our tents and can still feel and smell the cool dewdrop laiden grass as we step out of our tents at the Allegeny County Fairgrounds.
Just in the nick of time for our annual pilgrimage to Scranton, Pennsylvania, Del McCoury and his extended McCoury family, announced DelFest At Home, a streaming event celebrating musical highlights from DelFests past.
Although we will not be walk the Allegeny County Fairgrounds together and enjoy another exquities DelFest together, we can all celebrate together online starting May 21 (that's today!) and running through May 24th - the same exact schedule as DelFest 2020.
This free online event will feature performances from by Del McCoury and his family. In addition to Del, this virtual festival includes some of the biggest names in bluegrass and jam bands. Please check the schedule towards the end of the article for a full schedule that is sure to delight everyone!
Donations collected throughout the weekend will go toward funding the DelFest Foundation, an organization that works with non-profit organizations such as Western Maryland Food Bank, Allegany Health Right, and Habitat for Humanity as well as others in and around Allegany County.
Starting Thursday at 4:30 pm Eastern, fans can tune into Nugs.tv, DelFest’s youtube channel, or Facebook page.
"We've heard from many folks how much it's going to hurt not being at DelFest this Memorial Day weekend, so we hope this helps a little. We're grateful to have a dedicated crew that has captured some great moments of DelFest through the years, and are looking forward to reliving some of these great moments with you ourselves. We are so excited about this. It's just a small way we can all feel connected this weekend. Keep an eye on your notifications—we are going to pop onto Facebook Live from time to time between sets to say ‘hello."
