Last year The Ramble Festival burst onto the festival circuit as if it had been a long-established festival and we all somehow failed to notice them for all these years. Everywhere music fans went in 2022, they saw strategically placed banners and flyers announcing their 2022 lineup. People asked how they had overlooked this magical festival.
Little did we all know that the 2022 edition was the first edition of this festival and was the brainchild of two passionate music lovers who manifested and breathed life into this special music festival.
With one outstanding year under their belt, the creative geniuses behind The Ramble Festival are back to capturing lighting in a bottle and have announced the lineup for their second Ramble Festival slated for October 6th - 8th, 2023, at Camp Ramblewood in Darlington, MD. For those who attended the inaugural Festival you will notice some familiar artists including The Traveling McCourys, Neighbor, Bella's Bartok, Caleb Stine, The Dirty Grass Players, Dogs in a Pile, Kendal Street Company, The Hellbenders, and Naptown Brass Band. It is as if every musician performing at The Ramble Festival wants to return and relive those three days of magic and fun all over again.
This year The Ramble Festival features three new headlining acts, including The Del McCoury Band, Talk Moore with Robert Randolph, Jason Hann & The Funky Dawgs, Horns, and The Motet. Other notable acts include Magic Beans, Perpetual Groove, Danielle Williams, The Deer Creek Sharpshooters, Fishing for Hippies, The Hillbenders Whograss (because the only thing better than The Hillbenders' music is some bluegrass music of The Who), Isaac Haden Organ Trio, Frederick's very own Natalie Brooke, Rebekah Todd, Red Clay Revival, Shadowgrass, Sneezy, The Sweet Lillies, Uncle Kunkel's One Gram Band, and Yam Yam. In addition to all this musical magic Ramble Festival has not one, but two Artists At Large - Kanika Moore and Emerging Artist At Large - Isaac Hadden.
So why do we think Ramble Festival is one of the most amazing and refreshing of festivals on the calendar? Let us tell you a little more about the festival.
No VIP - At the Ramble, there are no VIPs because everyone is a VIP.
Festival Organizers Brick and J are breaking down the barriers that divide and bringing people together into a big 'ole community of music lovin' Ramblers. The last thing they want to do is divide folks into different groups when all they really want to do is bring folks together.
Let us repeat this again for everyone reading this article - at the Ramble, there are no VIPs because everyone is a VIP. This is beyond refreshing and whole heartedly authentic!
Transparent Pricing - The price advertised is the price you pay out-the-door.
Late night shows, showers, and tent camping are all included in the price of a full weekend pass.. Ya know what sucks? Going to buy a ticket to a festival, getting to the checkout page, and finding out that there are big time fees on top of the ticket price. Brick and J don't like that when we buy tickets to a festival, so they're not doing that to you at the Ramble. The price advertised is the price you pay out-the-door. Late night shows, showers, and tent camping are all included in the price.
Beer Hall Stage - An Oktoberfest style beer hall, local breweries pouring handcrafted brews, and a stage that keeps you groovin' all weekend.
Close your eyes an imagine - an Oktoberfest style beer hall, local breweries pouring off scrumptious handcrafted brews, a stage serving up some of the sweetest sounding tap-tappers in the game, and the smilin' faces of your tribe sittin' across the table from you with mischievous twinkles in their eyes. Is it paradise? Maybe. Ramblers just call it the Beer Hall Stage at the Ramble Festival, but feel free to call it whatever you'd like.
Ramble Bugs - Don't believe us? Com'on out and see for yourself.
The fireflys at Ramblewood are big damn heroes and just happen to be our favorite! The bugs found at Ramblewood are eminently polite, genteel even. You may even call them amiable or even downright neighborly. Com'on out and see for yourself. The fireflys at Ramblewood are big damn heroes and just happen to be our favorite!
Artist Led Campfire Jams - Jamming around a campfire with artists that are playing The Ramble? Hell yeah!
Jamming around a campfire with artists that are playing The Ramble? Hell yeah! Bring your instrument out and pick the night away with artists you'll see on stage and friends you haven't met yet.
The people behind the festival wanted to create a festival vibe and feel that aligned with their authentic nature. Last year they created a new festival that was truly cherished by everyone who attended - festival goers and artists alike! If you have yet to go to this festival, we cannot recommend attending enough! From the moment you drive up to the gates at Camp Ramblewood you will understand how unique this festival is - from the very smallest and hand-crafted details to the world-class lineup. Awake each morning with a New Orlean's inspired second line marching throughout the festival grounds, spend all day enjoying music on one of the many stages, stay up late at night with genius collaborations, and top it off with artist-led campfires. This festival has something for everyone and music lovers of all ages - bring your kids and inner child!
