In what is becoming an annual pilgrimage to Camp Ramblewood over the Indigenous Peoples Day / Columbus Day Holiday Weekend, we find ourselves again transfixed on The Ramble Festival's lineup in Darlington, Maryland, on October 11-13, 2024.
With two outstanding years under their belt, the creative geniuses behind The Ramble Festival are back to capturing lighting in a bottle and have announced the lineup for their third festival. Each year, we see considerable efforts put into making the best lineup possible - a cohesive living organism of bands, creativity, and community.
The first two years of the Ramble Festival were a tremendous success, with unforgettable experiences that you rarely see from a new festival. The first year blew us away with an incredibly authentic vibe, attention to detail, and an unsurpassed lineup for a first-year festival. How does one surpass their inaugural edition - you bring in living legend Del McCoury and his namesake band to help headline the festival. In addition to a stellar lineup, the festival also introduced artist-at-large and emerging artist-at-large, in addition to adding surprise secret sets held each day around festival grounds as news spread like wildfire and excited concertgoers were drawn likes moths to a flame to witness porch sets, hidden forest sets, and pond sets.
This year, the creative forces of The Ramble Festival, Jason and Brick, spent a little bit more time elevating the festival once again. When your festival amplifier tops out at 10, what does one do? Well, we feel that the organizers are working very hard to set their Ramble Amplifier to 11.
Like the best chefs, The Ramble Festival carefully reviewed all the best national and regional artists and created a most delicious music recipe with something for everyone.
Several of last year's favorite artists returned again, including Caleb Stine, Naptown Brass Band, Shadowgrass, Sneezy, Uncle Kunkel's One Gram Band, Natalie Brooke, and Isaac Hadden.
New to this year's edition will be headliners moe., The Devil Makes Three, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, Big Something, Town Mountain, and another artist to be announced in August. Other new artists on this years lineup are lespecial, Fireside Collective, Sicard Hollow, Scrambled Greg (of Pigeons Playing Ping Pong), Haley Jane, Will Evans, Solar Circuit, Hustle Souls, Maygen & The Birdwatcher, The Wright Avenue, Just Right, 5 Spot, The Fitlkee Brothers, Whiskey Feathers, Feather + Flask, and the 2023 Busking Competition Winner Julia Kasdorf.
Three new curated Ramble Festival super groups have been carefully crafted; Shadow Mountain, featuring Town Mountain and Shadowgrass; The Fiery Sneeze, featuring Fireside Collective and Sneezy; and Big Something & Friends. Don't be surprised if more artists head over to the barn to participate in some late-night super jams. New this year is the extra late-night jam for people who don't want the party to end with the music of special and Solar Circuit.
In addition to all this musical magic, Ramble Festival has not one but two artists at large: Hayley Jane and emerging artist Natalie Brooke.
So why do we think Ramble Festival is one of the most amazing and refreshing of festivals on the calendar? Let us tell you a little more about the festival.
