Charming Chicago indie rock band Friko prepares to woo the district this Thursday, setting the stage for their upcoming album, Where We’ve Been, Where We Go From Here. The dynamic duo, comprised of Niko Kapetan (guitar/vocals) and Bailey Minzenberger (drummer) are stretching their talents across the east and midwest during their latest tour.

The five-stop string of performances on this mini-tour comes hot on the heels of their latest single, Crashing Through, an electric yet heart wrenching beam of passion. In a push and pull of emotion, the chorus reads “I haven’t said what I mean to say/ I haven’t done what I mean to do/ ‘cause every coward looks away/ from all the light crashing through.”

 These introspective lyrics present the ever aching question, Kapetan describes as “wanting better for yourself and the people around you, but wondering how you can possibly do that with the world we live in.” Friko’s piercing lyrics paired with somber guitar hums and soft snares gently immerse listeners’ ears in a wave of sweet pain. 

This latest single trails the success of Crimson to Chrome, the band’s first spell-binding track of 2023. Climbing the charts, the song amassed over 250,000 streams on Spotify and reigned #1 on Siriux XMU for three weeks.

Now, Crashing Through paves way for Friko’s debut album, Where We’ve Been, Where We Go From Here, set to release on February 16, 2024. Coproduced by Scott Tallarida and Jack Henry, the album features nine enthralling tracks comprised of post-punk, chamber pop, and experimental rock.
