Week Of:  December 30, 2019 - January 5, 2020

Summary: Resolution 2020 — MORE MUSIC!

All the staff at DC Music Review are so grateful for an incredible year of music, community, love, creativity, and connection in 2019.

And what do we want in 2020More music! There are a LOT of ways to kick off the new year with music, all listed in the links below, with personal choices in bold, along with a list of the DCMR staff top picks and cool "gems" that you don't want to miss.

Something we need to mention is this is the last weekend of shows at our beloved haunt, Gypsy Sally's, where many of the DC Music Review staff met for the first time.  There are only four shows left in our community living room and we are sending off the GS venue and staff with pure gratitude and love in our hearts. Thank you, Gypsy Sally's, for all you have brought to the DC music community!

While this can be a joyous time for some, it can be a hard time for others. Music can be a salve when the expectations of the New Year starts to feels challenging. But sometimes it isn't enough. We at DCMR want to share the following resources for anyone who may be feeling depressed or suicidal, this time or year, or anytime:

It's a FREE 24/7 service to ANYONE who lives in the U.S.  Every texter is connected with a Crisis Counselor, a real-life human being trained to bring texters from a hot moment to a cool calm through active listening and collaborative problem solving. All of Crisis Text Line's Crisis Counselors are volunteers, donating their time to helping people in crisis. Read more here.
  • Suicide Prevention LifelineThe National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is a national network of local crisis centers that provides FREE and confidential emotional support to people in suicidal crisis or emotional distress 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  Call 1-800-273-8255
