Jam-band juggernaut Goose is coming for not one but two nights at the 6500-seat Anthem on the District Wharf in Washington, DC, on November 12th and 13th, 2024.
Goose released their debut album in 2016 and quickly took flight, playing countless shows while steadily amassing a fervent fan following for their unique brand of irresistible songs, fluid musicianship, and spirited improvisational performance. 2022 proved a career-defining year for the Connecticut-based quintet with their critically acclaimed third studio album, Dripfield. Fueled by such hypnotic tracks as "Hungersite", the album proved a phenomenon, debuting at #2 on Billboard's "Top New Artist Albums" chart amidst critical applause from such national outlets as Rolling Stone, which hailed it as "both sweet headphone ear candy and the foundation for a perfect live peak."
Known for their exuberant grooves and incendiary bursts of musical exploration, Goose has spent much of the past decade on a seemingly infinite tour schedule that includes sold-out headline shows at renowned venues across the country, such as Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Ryman Auditorium, and New York City's hallowed Radio City Music Hall, as well as a sold-out co-headline run alongside the Trey Anastasio Band.
Goose flew under our radar in February 2019 when they performed at Pearl Street Warehouse. However, by the end of the summer of 2019, the word was out and spreading like wildfire. We heard about this small band putting on ferocious performances and festivals nationwide. This relatively new band was punching way above its weight, touring with Pigeons Playing Ping Pong and having a bust-out festival season with regaled performances at Domefest, Summer Camp, and, most notably, Peach Music Festival. In November 2019, the band was on the cusp of greatness and started performing at larger clubs. In November of 2019, they performed deep in the heart of the DMV when they debuted at the 9:30 Club. To say their debut at the 9:30 Club was stunning is an understatement, and the walls reverberated with their surreal sound; their enthusiasm was contagious, and the cheers of "Goose!" roared inside the venue. At the time, we remarked, "There was an ever-present soothing bass line that felt like a deep tissue massage for your psyche combined with peaking and sensual, spine-tingling exhilaration. Goose should be on your music radar, and if 2019 is any prediction of their meteoric rise, you should see them while they are still performing at modest 1200-person venues." In March 2022, Goose performed two nights back-to-back at the 9:30 Club and then once gain back-to-back at The Chrysalis in Symphony Woods in Columbia, Maryland. Fast forward two more years, and they exceeded our wildest predictions as we see this band set to perform at the most prestigious and largest single-room music venue in the United States - The Anthem!
Goose is composed of five exceptional musicians, including Rick Mitarotonda (vocals, guitar), Peter Anspach (vocals, keys, guitar), and Trevor Weekz (bass). In recent years, the band's drumline has undergone some transformations and is now composed of Jeff Arevalo (vocals, percussion, drums) and Cotter Ellis (drums).
We are looking forward to two nights of increadible music and improvisation at The Anthem this coming November.
