DC Music Review is truly honored and excited to partner with LoveHopeStrength.org

Their mission is simple:

"Saving Lives, One Concert At A Time"

DC Music Review is passionate about music, and it resonates so deeply in our bones and our essence.

How can we make the world a better place? We can certainly deliver the best music news, calendar of events, and music reviews. But even more than this, we can provide a platform to also be an ambassador for good in the world, save lives, and be more meaningful in what our platform stands for.

Lastly, we can help raise awareness and save lives. Because even one more life we save means there will be one more person at a concert venue enjoying music, one more father, mother, daughter, son, relative... one more person who has been given the gift of life by a stranger or has given the gift of life to a stranger.

Since 2008 LoveHopeStrength have been hosting marrow donor drives at concerts and festivals across the globe via their "Get on the List" campaign.

This program encourages people to sign up for the International Bone Marrow Registry via a simple cheek swab. Since 2008 Love Hope Strength has helped register 170,00 people in the United States to the national bone marrow registry. Since then, Love Hope Strength has found 3,400 potentially life-saving matches have for patients in need of a bone marrow transfer.

To put that into perspective: That is almost THREE ENTIRE sold-out 9:30 Club audiences, over 11 sold-out performances at Gypsy Sally's, over 4.5 sold-out concerts at The Hamilton, and 8.5 sold-out performances at The 8x10.

With your help, we hope to one day fill The Anthem with all the people that have been saved! (That would be in excess of 6,000 live saving matches!

Who Needs a Bone Marrow Transplant?

Someone who is on the list and someone who's life was saved by the list.

Roughly 14,000 Americans are currently searching for a match. A bone marrow transplant is a potentially life-saving treatment for people with leukemia, lymphoma, and other blood diseases. Only 30% of all patients can find a compatible bone marrow donor in their family, and 6 out of 10 patients will not receive a bone marrow transplant.

How Do You Become A Bone Marrow Donor?

It's easy to get on the list!

You can register online at LoveHopeStrength.org by selecting "Become a Donor" at the top of the page.
You can also stop by a booth at a concert or music festival. It only takes a few minutes and involves a simple form and a few minutes with a swab-based collection system.
Many of our collaborators have signed up for the Bone Marrow Registry during Lockn and other festivals around the region, taking our concept of, “saving lives, one concert at a time,” to a whole new level.

What Happens If You Are A Match?

Someone who was a match and saved a life!

Did you know that 80% of all bone marrow transplants can be performed using a peripheral blood stem cell procedure that involves NO surgical procedure?

Blood is removed with a needle from one arm and passe through a machine that separates out the blood from the stem cells, and then returns your blood back to you through your other arm. For five days before this procedure you are given daily injections to increase your white blood cells. THAT IS IT!

For the remaining 20% of cases a minor surgical OUTPATIENT procedure to collect bone marrow from your pelvis.
