Seth Walker Brings His Blues To The Hamilton on June 16 In Support Of His Latest Album

Singer/songwriter Seth Walker is set to perform at The Hamilton in Washington DC on Thursday, June 16th. Walker will bring his blues music to DC to support his eleventh studio album, I Hope I Know. Joining Walker at The Hamilton is Annapolis-based band Pressing Strings.

Walker was born and raised in Altamahaw-Ossippee, North Carolina, United States, with classically trained musical parents. He learned to play the cello at the age of three and gravitated towards the blues in his teenage years, finding inspiration in the work of B.B. King, Snooks Eaglin, Ray Charles, and T-Bone Walker.

The album, set to be released on May 20th, was produced by Jano Rix of The Wood Brothers and includes three songs co-written with Oliver Wood and renditions of songs by Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, and Bobby Charles

I Hope I Know is a beacon of light, each of its ten songs shining forth with what many have come to love about Walker and his soulful Americana: diverse influences, contemplative lyrics, that signature blue tone on the guitar, and movement both geographic and spiritual. The album is a beautiful reckoning with heartbreak, moving across states, not knowing when the next tour will begin, among other mysteries encountered day to day existence. The ten-track collection could best be described as Walker's' round-midnight album. Its tempos are slower and tonality darker than on previous work, one where Walker had to "sit with it," trying and failing without forcing anything: not time, not the songwriting or its grooves, not a sense of control, not even his own healing. The first sessions for the record began in 2019, however, the breakup of a longtime romantic relationship and the onset of the pandemic in 2020 led Walker to relocate from his home in Nashville, Tennessee, to Asheville, North Carolina, not far from where he was born and raised. A romantic breakup, a pandemic, and a pause on live music can certainly give any of us a case of the blues.

Fast-forward to June 2022, where the pandemic is slowly fading, live music is coming back in full force, and beautiful cathartic albums like I Hope I Know are seeing the light of day.  We now set inside The Hamilton and enjoy musicians like Walker perform songs from his latest album as we enjoy the soothing blues sound resonating throughout the venue.

We look forward to welcoming Welker and Pressing Strings to The Hamilton in just a few weeks for a memorable night of incredible blues.
