Six Foot Blonde, an indie-pop group from Bloomington, Indiana, is heading to Washington, DC, on July 12th when they perform at Pearl Street Warehouse.
Originally a local college band, the group transformed into a national touring act within a year and a half. The group fuses pop melodies and rhythms with soul-inspired vocals and slide guitar, drawing inspiration from a broad palette of artists. Their tight-knit, energetic friendship on stage makes for a danceable, memorable experience for each audience member. Live shows are where they shine and they have quickly becoming a midwestern staple in the independent music space. The bands music fuses pop melodies and rhythms with soul-inspired vocals and slide guitar, drawing inspiration from a broad palette of artists like Florence and the Machine, Fleetwood Mac, and Olivia Dean.
So where did they get this memorable name? Vocalist Julia Rusyniak explains, “We used to sing with another girl (Emma Spartz) that was 6-foot-2 and both of us at the time had blonde hair.” The band turning heads for a different reason - their incredible sound and energy.
Now headlining their first national tour, this band of college students is hitting the road and prepared to enthrall new audience members.
We are looking forward to seeing this band take up the full breadth of Pearl Street Warehouse's stage when this sextuplet performs. This band is composed of Julia Rusyniak (Lead vocals), John Alex Rusyniak (Keys), Dom Heyob (Bass, vocals), Zach Patrick (Guitar), Elliott Obermaier (Guitar), and Brian Healey (Drums).
There is a special treat at Pearl Street Warehouse as the band will be supported by not one but two DC bands - Humbalaya and Roscoe Tripp. This will be a great night of music by three indie bands and we think that our local DC Music Scene and funk vibe will rub off on Six Foot Blonde in the tour dates and years to come.
We look forward to hearing Six Foot Blonde as they gather momentum as they support their latest EP, Tino's Place, before releasing their debut album, Ask Me How I Am, which is due later this summer on August 10th.
