Fresh into the North American leg of her tour, Soccer Mommy delivered an unforgettable, sold-out two-night run at Washington D.C.'s iconic 9:30 Club on January 27th and 28th. Known for its stellar acoustics and electric atmosphere, the intimate venue provided the perfect backdrop for a night of raw emotion and immersive sound.

From bedroom-recorded Bandcamp uploads to headlining sold-out venues across the country, Soccer Mommy—aka Sophie Allison—has built a dedicated following through her fusion of vulnerability and grit. Often compared to artists like Phoebe Bridgers, Japanese Breakfast, and Snail Mail, her music feels deeply personal, like flipping through the pages of a journal. Her songs are both tender and raw, seamlessly blending lo-fi indie rock with the nostalgic haze of ’90s alt-rock—a perfect cocktail of angst and introspection, made for getting lost in your thoughts.
Opening the night was L’Rain, a genre-bending multi-instrumentalist from Brooklyn, NY. Accompanied by a full band, she layered ethereal vocals, swirling synths, and looping guitar melodies, crafting a hypnotic soundscape that pulled the audience into a dreamlike haze. As her set came to a close, the crowd thickened—both physically and metaphorically—the air buzzing with anticipation for what was to come.
Soccer Mommy took the stage and opened with “Abigail,” a single from her newest album, Sometimes, Forever, already a clear favorite among the crowd. The song captures the giddy, late-night confessions of a crush—the kind of conversation you'd have with your best friends, sprawled across your bedroom floor. Its dreamy, wistful energy set the perfect tone before she launched into “Circle the Drain,” a standout from Color Theory that had fans swaying and singing along to its bittersweet melody.

As the set progressed, she shifted gears with “Driver,” turning up the intensity and replacing soft nostalgia with gritty, angsty rock. When she played “Your Dog,” the crowd erupted, proving its place as a definitive fan favorite from Clean.

For the encore, she played “Changes” and closed with “Don’t Ask Me.” As the final chords rang out, the audience was left buzzing, fully immersed in the emotional highs and lows of the set—a testament to Soccer Mommy’s ability to turn deeply personal confessions into anthems that linger long after the show ends.

Sophie Allison delivered a set that felt both intimate and electrifying, effortlessly weaving through fan favorites and deeper cuts alike. Even the opener, L’Rain, played a crucial role in setting the night’s immersive atmosphere. As the house lights came up and fans spilled into the streets, conversations buzzed with the unmistakable glow of a night well spent. It was a performance that didn’t just end—it stayed with you, leaving everyone craving just one more song.
