Maybe it\u2019s the nostalgic <strong>Beach Boys<\/strong> surfer vibe, or maybe that I\u2019m a sucker for chill (yet intricate) indie tunes, but tracks from Frass Green\u2019s new album are already living on a slew of my own personal playlists.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"width: 100%;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"1200\" title=\"Frass Green - For You Album Artwork\" data-id=\"100361\" src=\"\/\/www.dcmusicreview.com\/staging\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/foryou.jpg\" scale=\"0\" style=\"width: 100%; -webkit-user-select: none;\"><\/span><span style=\"width: 100%;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"1200\" title=\"Frass Green - For You Album Artwork\" data-id=\"100361\" src=\"\/\/www.dcmusicreview.com\/staging\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/foryou.jpg\" scale=\"0\" style=\"width: 100%; -webkit-user-select: none;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Frass Green originated as the solo project of <strong>Joe Antoshak<\/strong> (rhythm, guitar, vocals), but is now a full fledged band comprised of <strong>T<\/strong><strong>yler Rippel <\/strong>(bass, keys, vocals), <strong>Antonio Peluso<\/strong> (drums), and <strong>Matt Lachance<\/strong> (guitar, violin, vocals).&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>For You<\/em>, the first release from Frass Green as we know them now, is chock full of the indie equivalent of \u2018bangers\u2019. Song after song is objectively memorable, each track building off the one prior, adding new layers of nuance and emotion that sets it apart from the rest. The new album feels crisp, with seamless harmonies and soaring vocals that give Frass Green an effortlessly natural sound.<\/p>\n<p>From the dialed back \u201cLike You Do\u201d and \u201cHeaven\u201c to the peppier and danceable \u201cHair\u201d and \u201cSycamore\u201d, <em>For You <\/em>truly has something for everyone. Hints of folk and surfer rock pepper individual tracks, and despite the wide range of sounds, the album flows together impeccably. The variety in sound is fitting, as the lyrics flip flop between hopeful romance (&#8220;For You!&#8221;) and heartbroken angst (&#8220;Llewyn&#8221;), accurately depicting the rollercoaster of emotions that accompanies love.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The album closes on an optimistic note with &#8220;Met You!&#8221; (my personal favorite), which feels like it belongs in the opening credits of a movie starring Greta Gerwig. One where her sunny disposition and positivity are nearly crushed by the overbearing soullessness of a city, but her relationships and self-discovery allow her to come out the other end stronger.
