Located in Central Virginia, amidst the natural beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Arrington is halfway between Charlottesville and Lynchburg and close to both Washington, DC and Richmond.<\/p>\n \u200bThe folks that put this amazing festival together are a group of dedicated music fans aspiring to provide the ultimate atmosphere for live music and community to flourish.<\/p>\n \u200bPast artists that have performed (among the many<\/em>) are big names like Tom Petty, Robert Plant, Phish, Carlos Santana, My Morning Jacket, Ween, Wilco, Zac Brown, Willie Nelson, Phil Lesh<\/strong> and so many more. Anyone who has attended the festival in the past, knows that at Lockn’, you are in store for \u200bsome unforgettable onstage collaborations!\u200b 2019 is no different!!<\/p>\n \u200bTheir goal is not only to offer fans mind-blowing lineups but also to present the best in local and regional cuisine, craft beers and wines, and opportunities to explore the picturesque setting. \u200bLocal organizations and community leaders are also part of the family at Lockn and they are very supportive of all the good folks who have equally supported them over the years.<\/p>\n \u200b<\/strong>\u200bThere is only one main stage location and Lockn’ uses one that rotates, \u200bwhich means the convenience of a one-spot stop for locations to watch the music from, not requiring you to move or wait between bands. They also offer amazing late nights from artists and day-time music in Garcia’s Forest, which is also a great place to stay cool amongst the shade of the trees. <\/p>\n \u200bAs mentioned above, collaborations are the thing Lockn’ really offers that you won’t find anywhere else. This year, some of them are: Tedeschi Trucks Band <\/strong>featuring Trey Anastasio<\/strong>, \u200bSteel Pulse<\/strong> featuring Bob Weir, Twiddle<\/strong> featuring John Popper, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong<\/strong> featuring Cory Wong <\/strong>and that’s just what they’ve announced so far. As a former attendee, I can tell you first hand that there are going to be plenty that we won’t know about until we see onstage – reason enough to attend this festival! <\/p>\n Logistics and Tips:<\/u><\/p>\n \u200bThe standard festival supplies\/setup and gear are \u200bsmart. The farm can get hot mid-August so highly recommend a pop up or some sort of shade covering and plenty of sunscreen. The website boasts that they are “Pretty much the music, food, camping and beer wonderland of Nelson County” and man did they hit the nail on the head!<\/p>\n After attending the festival last year, I said I would always go back and the fun is non-stop at the late September festival. Not only do they have an amazing layout with so many options (including indoors, air conditioning and delicious cuisine if needed) but the people that gather for this festival are top notch as well. A beautiful drive from a bit north makes the trip totally worth it and once you are there, you have countless options to enjoy the majestic location in the heart of Nelson County.<\/p>\n \u200bThe weekend includes pop-up beer tastings, outdoor adventures, property tours, crafts, great eats, and tons of incredible live music! Tickets are a ‘music and adventure pass’ and multi-day passes that include Friday even get access to \u200btheir \u201cPop Up\u201d Beer Tasting (21 & over only) in the Meadows and The Outdoor Bar area on Friday. \u200b<\/p>\n Listed on the schedule in previous years are hiking, beer tours, mountain biking trips and tons of fun for the kids and kids-at-heart.
