Summary: H<\/span>ERA, REACH<\/span>, H<\/span> Street, and H<\/span>UGE artists<\/strong><\/p>\n

Big things h<\/span>appening this week. There are epic local festivals<\/strong>, huge artists<\/strong>, and some very cool, off the beaten path<\/strong> opportunities to experience music. <\/p>\n

HERA FEST 2019<\/span><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Starting with our feature photo: HERA Fest 2019<\/a><\/strong>, an all-ages (18 and younger free admission!), female-fueled music festival showcasing women in music from DC and beyond, will be held at City Winery DC<\/a> starting at noon on Sunday, Sept 22nd<\/strong>. With over 35 female-fronted acts (including headliner, Jill Sobule<\/a><\/strong>), multiple local vendors and awesome musical-themed activities, HERA Fest ’19 will have something for everyone.<\/p>\n

Proceeds will benefit ProjectHERA<\/strong><\/a>, a DC-based, 501c(3) nonprofit organization that provides opportunities for women of all ages to connect and support each other throughout the local music scene.  A special emphasis will be placed on the younger generation, providing performance opportunities in a supportive environment. In addition, Project HERA is partnering with the National Center for Children and Families<\/strong><\/a> and will be collecting unused toiletries as donations.  <\/p>\n

This is a not-to-be-missed festival since you can see some of the best DC musicians (including local loves like Shelia<\/a>, Elizabeth II<\/a>, La Marvela<\/a>, Alex Purdy<\/a>, and Hayley Fahey<\/a>, to name only a few) performing in one place for an amazing cause. <\/p>\n

REACH at The Kennedy Center<\/span><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Every day this week there are FREE<\/a> events at the REACH at The Kennedy Center<\/a><\/strong> where you can experience “creativity in action.”<\/strong>  There are too many fabulous REACH events to list out here (although many are listed below), so be sure to check out their FULL SCHEDULE <\/a><\/strong>and get to this amazing opportunity before it ends on Sunday.<\/p>\n

H Street Music Festival<\/span><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

On Saturday, get to H Street<\/a><\/strong> to what the Washington City Paper’s Best of DC & Washingtonian Magazine says is “the best festival in town.” Spanning 11 blocks of H Street NE and featuring 15 staging areas and more than 250 businesses, restaurants, community organizations and vendors. There will be great food, drinks, music, contests, kids\u2019 activities and related events at amazing music venues on the block like the H Street Festival Kick-Off<\/a> at Pie Shop DC and H Street Festival Party<\/a> at Rock & Roll Hotel.<\/p>\n
