The Tedeschi Trucks Band<\/strong> (TTB) returned to DC to finish what they started and delivered a pair of monstrous performances at the beautiful Warner Theatre<\/strong>. Friday, February 21 was a gem from start to finish and featured a stunning acoustic segment to begin the second set, complete with a pair of choice covers in “Keep your Lamps Trimmed and Burning” and the rare “All My Friends.” The band then returned to their traditional electric format for a rousing take of Dr. John’s <\/strong>“Walk on Gilded Splinters,” a raucous “Key To They Highway” before closing with a thunderous “Storm > Whipping Post” coda.<\/p>\n

The band took the stage for their final 2020 Warner show on Saturday, February 22, and found a way to top themselves yet again. The first set began with “Don’t Do It,” in The Band’s<\/strong> style of the Marvin Gaye<\/strong> classic and we knew it was going to be a night to remember. “Shelter” included a magnificent vocal duo by Susan Tedeschi <\/strong>and backup singer Mark Rivers<\/strong> and closed with the band’s classic “Bound For Glory.”<\/p>\n

The last of the eight Warner Theatre sets might have topped them all. “Leaving Trunk” (Taj Mahal<\/strong>) nearly brought the house down before the spectacular “Shame” and “Midnight Harlem” pairing that left the sold-out crowd in awe. Susan commanded the room’s attention with a memorable “Angel From Montgomery” > “Sugaree” performance that soothed our souls. TTB wasn’t done and took the adoring crowd for a musical ride to remember with a nearly 18-minute masterpiece, “In Memory of Elizabeth Reed” that was worth the price of admission alone.<\/p>\n

The band gave us what we came for with a brilliant rendition of “Good To Your Earhole” by Funkadelic <\/strong>as they bid farewell to another amazing run in DC. Somehow, this may have been the best they have ever done it. Bravo, Tedeschi Trucks Band. You’ve managed to outdo yourself once again. <\/p>\n
