With so much going on in our world right now you may have forgotten that April 22nd is Earth Day<\/strong>.  We all know that there is no Plan-B and we should honor, protect, nurture, and cherish this special little rock of ours hurtling through space.<\/p>\n

We are delighted to share with you a free<\/span><\/strong> online event coming to us all on April 22nd at 8:30 PM (Eastern Standard Time).  In honor of 30 years of great live music paired with social and environmental programming, Colorado\u2019s beloved radio show  eTown<\/strong> is throwing a party for the ages. The b’Earthday <\/strong>Celebration, in addition to celebrating and supporting Earth Day, will honor eTown’s 30th birthday and their induction into the Colorado Music Hall of Fame<\/strong>. This is a free-to-attend<\/strong> live stream that will feature performances from Black Pumas, Nathaniel Rateliff, <\/strong>Sarah Jarosz <\/strong>, Lyle Lovett, Bob Weir, Los Lobos, Sam Bush, City and Colour, The War and Treaty,<\/strong> and Raquel Garcia<\/strong>. Former U.S. Senator and environmental advocate Tim Wirth<\/strong> and U.S. Congressman Joe Neguse <\/strong>will join for the conversation portion of the Livestream.<\/p>\n

Nick Forester<\/strong> of Hot Rize,<\/strong> founded eTown in 1991 with his then fianc\u00e9 and now wife Helen<\/strong>. Their first eTown show was recorded on Earth Day in 1991 and short time later eTown was launched on NPR<\/strong>, and fans all across the country discovered this one-of-a-kind program. DC Music Review was fortunate enough to experience eTown’s memorable coverage of the 2018 Festy Experience<\/strong> in Charlottesville, VA. <\/p>\n

In the 30 years since eTown’s founding in Boulder, Colorado,  it has evolved and expanded into a full-blown nonprofit, that is unmatched in its contribution to both music and the environment. Prior to the pandemic, eTown recorded shows in front of a live audience in eTown Hall,<\/strong> a 17,000 square foot former church in downtown Boulder. This facility has been renovated and transformed into a solar-powered performance and recording facility\u2014likely the only zero-carbon facility of its kind in North America. Recently, eTown pivoted to all-virtual episodes. that can all be found online.<\/p>\n
