For almost a decade The Local Honeys<\/strong> have been an integralpart of the Kentucky bluegrass musicscape.  For more than ten years this duo comprised of  Linda Jean<\/strong> Stokley<\/strong> and Montana Hobbs <\/strong>have worked their craft, crisscrossed the country with the likes of Tyler Childers<\/strong>.  <\/p>\n

On July 15th, 2022, The Local Honeys released their debut self-titled album that features ten winsome vignettes of rural Kentucky, conjuring 90\u2019s alternative sounds with hillbilly Radiohead<\/strong> lilts, soaring above layers of deep grooves and rich tones masterfully curated by longtime mentor Jesse Wells<\/strong>, a Grammy-nominated producer and musician who also happens to be a member of Tyler Childers\u2019 band The Food Stamps<\/strong>.  The resulting album shows off The Local Honeys\u2019 gifted way with words\u2014particularly the playful colloquialisms and regional idiosyncrasies from their home in Kentucky\u2014that simultaneously connect the past and present, old and new.   <\/p>\n

Throughout The Local Honeys<\/em>, the duo demand to be interpreted as creators and storytellers, not just purveyors of tradition. Similarly, the sounds captured within the project cement their place as innovators and rule-breakers. Rollicking banjo meets overdriven guitar hooks and blue-collar rural grit is met with lush melodies and nimble harmonies; it\u2019s a project filled with juxtaposition and it isn\u2019t by accident. It\u2019s reflective of who they are and who they run with. <\/p>\n

Stokley and Hobbs ended up with the most nuanced, moody, deep-holler sound they have captured to date. \u201cThis is the first time we\u2019ve actively gotten to express who we are and where we\u2019re from\u201d says Linda Jean, \u201cThe songs on the album speak for us,\u201d adds Montana \u201cthey\u2019re about what we know, reflections of us as people. We realized we have the power to add our own narrative into Kentucky music.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"Lost<\/p>\n

The Local Honeys will be stopping in Charlottesville, Virginia, and Washington, DC, in support of the Lost Dog Street Band’s<\/strong> “Lonesome Farewell Tour 2022.”  <\/em>Lost Dog Street Band is a husband and wife duo comprised of Benjamin Tod<\/strong> on guitar and vocals and Ashley Mae<\/strong> on fiddle.  Lost Dog Street Band is a country band with deep roots in punk rock providing for a unique sounds.<\/p>\n

This sixteen-stop tour is certainly a hidden gem for music lovers of traditional Americana music.  Come out and see Lost Dog Street Band and celebrate The Local Honeys debut album as they come to The Jefferson Theater <\/strong>in Charlottesville on September 25th, and the Howard Theatre<\/strong> on September 27.<\/p>\n
