Grateful Dead<\/strong> co-founder Jerry Garcia<\/strong> was born on August 1, 1942, and died on August 9, 1995.    Since this musical icon’s death , Deadheads across the globe call the nine days in August between his birthday and his passing \u201cThe Days Between,\u201d which has been traditionally seen as a time to celebrate and honor the music and memory of Garcia.<\/p>\n

Having first taken over some of Jerry Garcia\u2019s lead vocal duties on the Grateful Dead’s 2003 reunion tour longtime Dead<\/strong> collaborator Joan Osborne <\/strong>is excited to play a very special evening featuring the music of Jerry Garcia.  Over the last two decades Osborne has performed with Phil Lesh<\/strong>, Phil Lesh & Friends<\/strong>, and Bob Weir<\/strong>.  Many of these legendary performances have been captured and collected online.  The following YouTube collection <\/a>will give you a taste for what you can expect when Osborne, Jack Petruzzelli<\/strong>, and Marc Muller <\/strong>perform on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at The Hamilton in Washington, DC.<\/p>\n

The Hamilton’s performance comes fresh off the heals of Osbornes’s latest album, Radio Waves<\/em>, released on February 22nd, 2022. The 13-song album is a unique, hand-picked assortment of Osborne\u2019s favorite and most captivating live appearances culled from 100+ radio station performances over her 25-year career. Following the 2020 release of her critically acclaimed Trouble and Strife<\/em>, Osborne canceled her touring plans and spent the lockdown like many others \u2013 visiting backburner projects and sorting through the contents of old, dusty shoeboxes.<\/p>\n

What Osborne found buried deep within her closets are relics of those lost performances; time-capsule live recordings spotlighting the lightning-in-a-bottle dynamism that makes her a mesmerizing performer. The tracks of Radio Waves<\/em> cover a wide range in style and source material, perfectly exhibited in the album\u2019s bookends \u2013 starting with \u201cSaint Teresa\u201d from a KCRW session in 1995 and ending on a take of Sly and the Family Stone\u2019<\/strong>s \u201cEverybody is a Star\u201d performed at KROQ in 2002.  Consistent throughout Radio Waves<\/em> are Osborne\u2019s bigtime silky voice, soulful and smooth instrumentation from the likes of veteran accompanists Andrew Carillo and Jack Petruzzelli, and a keen ear for heart-lifting song selections. Inspiring, stylistic choices span classics like Stevie Wonder\u2019s <\/strong>\u201cLove\u2019s in Need of Love Today\u201d and Bob Dylan\u2019s <\/strong>\u201cMake You Feel My Love\u201d, as well as deeper cuts such as Bill Withers<\/strong>\u2019 \u201cSame Love That Made Me Laugh\u201d and Toshi Reagon\u2019s \u201c<\/strong>Real Love\u201d.<\/p>\n
