Twelve breast cancer survivors will take the stage at Songbyrd Music House<\/strong> in Washington, DC, on October 17th, to show off their talents and raise money for the non-profit Cancer Culture<\/strong>, who will be granting the proceeds towards BCRF, one of the largest breast cancer research funds in America. Alongside Rachel Burns<\/strong>, guest singers will include, Beth Fairchild<\/strong>, Molly Young<\/strong>, Trish Ripley<\/strong> and many more. Looking to celebrate and empower women this October for Breast Cancer Awareness Month? This is an inspiring and uplifting event you won\u2019t want to miss.<\/p>\n

A survivor of breast cancer herself, Rachel is a co-founder of #CancerCulture, a patient-led non-profit organization focused on shifting how people think about breast cancer through art, culture, and equitable development. “Cancer taught me many life lessons about resistance, heartbreak, and living life to the fullest without fear,” Burns says.<\/p>\n

As part of #CancerCulture’s mission, Burns hosts the Living My Breast Life<\/em> <\/strong>show (fka Live from Stage IV<\/strong>) in DC. Now in its sixth year, the show was started by Burns as a fundraising concert for cancer research after her close friend and #CancerCulture co-founder Beth Fairchild confided that her dream was to sing with a live band in concert.<\/p>\n

To date, dozens of survivors and thrivers have experienced the transformative magic of music, performance, and empowerment by appearing onstage with some of DC\u2019s best musicians. This year, the participants will also attend a retreat hosted by Burns, which will include documentation of their stories and the opportunity to record themselves in a professional studio, before the live show at DC’s Songbyrd Music House on October 17<\/u>.<\/p>\n

Since 2017, #CancerCulture has also presented fashion shows – first at New York’s Fashion Week, and this year in Milan as well, for the first time – shocking the world by putting real patients on the runway and raisting over $280,000 (to date) for metastatic breast cancer research, continuing to fund a grant named in honor of co-founder Champagne Joy<\/strong>, who passed away less than two months after the first show. <\/p>\n
