The key to staying fresh is trying new things, stepping out of your comfort zone, and taking risks. For that reason Manchester Orchestra <\/strong>is one of the freshest bands out there.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

In the past few years alone, they’ve released their sixth album, created a documentary about the making of said album, and scored one of the best and weirdest movies of 2016<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Their latest album, A Black Mile To The Surface<\/em> features a sound that was born out the experiments with their soundtrack and score for Sundance cult smash Swiss Army Man<\/em> (dir. The Daniels), where they were forbidden from using instruments. And so was born my personal favorite score of the year, featuring innovative, mystical, ethereal vocals and sounds that would not previously been associated with Manchester Orchestra.<\/p>\n

While their latest is album is as grandiose as ever, there are new sounds that can likely be attributed to their experimental scoring debut. At the same time, there\u2019s something for fans old and new on the new release. While still staying true to their rock sound, there are far more songs on this album that feel softer and more dialed back vocally, while still being experimental and exciting instrumentally.<\/p>\n
