The first No Boys Shebang<\/strong><\/a>, a concert benefiting the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network<\/strong><\/a> is set for Sunday, May 26 hosted by Ava Mirzadegan\u2019s<\/strong> \u201cNo Boys Allowed<\/a>\u201d blog. The blog is a DC-based music blog and radio show dedicated to women and non-binary musicians. <\/p>\n

Mirzadegan<\/strong>, explains that this event is close to her heart. \u201cTwo years ago, I lost my mother to the disease and it  changed the course of my life entirely.\u201d Since then she has worked to  coordinate benefits and events to aid the cause. <\/p>\n

Aside from 100% of proceeds going to the charity, this concert will highlight female artists. \u201cThe sentiment behind “no boys” is less of an anti-men separatist thing and more about our disdain for the patriarchy and boy-ness,\u201d said Mirzadegan.<\/p>\n

A few of the girlboss performers have been announced on Mirzadgan\u2019s blog. There will be two DJ sets, one by DJ Meeshka<\/strong> (debuting her first DJ set at the event) and another by Girl IRL<\/strong>. <\/strong>Plus a huge treat will be performances by Hannah Epperson<\/strong><\/a>, Blush Face<\/strong>, Jules Hale<\/strong>, and Bluish.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Notably, <\/strong>Hannah Epperson<\/strong><\/a> has received recent accolades for merging the distinct worlds of indie and classical genres through her violin, looping pedals, and various electronic sounds. Her 2016 album, Upsweep,<\/em> and 2018 album, Slowdown<\/em>, have brought her to the attention of many as her sound is so unique and almost impossible to categorize. She will be opening for indie rock band, The Dirty Projectors<\/strong><\/a>, on their current tour as well.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s going to be a privilege to perform on the same line up as Hannah Epperson<\/strong>, she is a looping wizard, and makes beautiful and delicate folk pop,\u201d said fellow performer Michelle Kim<\/strong> (DJ Meeshka<\/strong>).<\/p>\n
