They were last here in December, also at their favorite local spot &#8211; Gypsy&#8217;s. Midnight North features Elliott Peck (guitarist and vocalist), Grahame Lesh (lead guitarist and vocalist), <strong>Alex Jordan<\/strong> (vocalist and organ player), <strong>Connor O&#8217;Sullivan<\/strong> (bass player) and <strong>Nathan Graham <\/strong>(drummer). The evening began with Kentucky based bluegrass band <strong>The Wook&#8217;s<\/strong>, consisting of <strong>CJ Cain <\/strong>(lead guitar, vocals), <strong>Harry Clark <\/strong>(mandolin, vocals), <strong>Roddy Puckett <\/strong>(bass, vocals), <strong>George Guthrie <\/strong>(Banjo).<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"width: 100%;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"Elliott Peck, Midnight North, at Gypsy Sally's Washington DC\" width=\"684\" height=\"1024\" title=\"Elliott Peck, Midnight North, at Gypsy Sally's Washington DC\" data-id=\"99197\" src=\"\/\/www.dcmusicreview.com\/staging\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/20190724-MidnightNorth-69.jpg\" style=\"width: 100%; -webkit-user-select: none;\" scale=\"0\"><\/span><span style=\"width: 100%;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"\" width=\"684\" height=\"1024\" title=\"Elliott Peck , Midnight North, at Gypsy Sally's Washington DC\" data-id=\"99197\" src=\"\/\/www.dcmusicreview.com\/staging\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/20190724-MidnightNorth-69.jpg\" style=\"width: 100%; -webkit-user-select: none;\" scale=\"0\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Midnight North opened their night with their most recent new track, &#8220;Long View.&#8221; The song was written by guitarist Grahame Lesh and drummer Nathan Graham and will be featured on the next studio album. Their second tune revealed Elliott Peck&#8217;s country roots with &#8220;Silver and Gold,&#8221; a featured track from her own recently released album <em>Further From The Storm<\/em>. The night highlighted a broad selection of originals sprinkled with some outstanding covers, and Lesh and Peck alternatively trading off lead vocals throughout the long set. Both have incredible range and entertained the rhythmic dancing and enthusiastic Gypsy&#8217;s crowd &#8211; purely demonstrated during Elliott&#8217;s lead on fan favorite \u2013 &#8220;Playing a Poor Hand Well.&#8221; They pulled out a few additional songs from their <em>Under The Lights<\/em> album , including &#8220;Roamin,&#8221; &#8220;Greene County,&#8221; and title track &#8220;Under the Lights.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"width: 100%;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"684\" title=\"Grahame Lesh, Midnight North, at Gypsy Sally's Washington DC\" data-id=\"99213\" src=\"\/\/www.dcmusicreview.com\/staging\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/20190724-MidnightNorth-56.jpg\" style=\"width: 100%; -webkit-user-select: none;\" scale=\"0\"><\/span><span style=\"width: 100%;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"684\" title=\"Grahame Lesh, Midnight North, at Gypsy Sally's Washington DC\" data-id=\"99213\" src=\"\/\/www.dcmusicreview.com\/staging\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/20190724-MidnightNorth-56.jpg\" style=\"width: 100%; -webkit-user-select: none;\" scale=\"0\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Among the other covers were <strong>Tedeschi Trucks Band&#8217;s<\/strong> &#8220;Midnight in Harlem,&#8221; a real treat getting to hear this song live twice this week \u2013 for those that also caught TTB at <a href=\"https:\/\/dcmusicreview.com\/staging\/tedeschi-trucks-band-storms-into-wolf-trap-on-wheels-of-soul-tour\/\" style=\"-webkit-user-select: none;\">Wolf Trap<\/a> \u2013 and &#8220;Keep Your Lamps Trimmed and Burning,&#8221; a favorite of <strong>Hot Tuna<\/strong>. The band also broke out with &#8220;The Shape I&#8217;m In&#8221;, by <strong>The Band.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Before the night&#8217;s end, the band provided a unexpected treat with a double encore, first with <strong>Levon Helm<\/strong>&#8216;s &#8220;When I go Away&#8221; before Gypsy Sally&#8217;s owner, <strong>David Ensor<\/strong>, celebrated his birthday evening by joining the band to close the night for a great rendition of&nbsp;<strong>Dylan&#8217;s&nbsp;<\/strong>&#8216;You Ain&#8217;t Going Nowhere&#8217;.
