One of the visceral hearts of the Washington DC Metro area music scene just announced that they are participating in #GivingTuesdayNow.

In addition to their core mission - being a youth development organization that changes lives by facilitating music lessons, experiences and opportunities to benefit the community - they run The Washington Youth Choir, The Funk Parade, and The Wammies

This week they put out the following press release:

In these uncommon times of social distancing and isolation, supporting children in our community is more important than ever. On May 5, The MusicianShip will participate in #GivingTuesdayNow, a global day of giving in response to COVID-19.

Even in the midst of this crisis, The MusicianShip continues to work hard to support youth in our community every day. We are halfway into our 10th anniversary, and we need your support to successfully continue our free-of-charge music programs for youth.

Over the next few weeks, we will be sharing more details about the campaign, and how you can be involved. During this challenging time for us all, every gift matters. With your help, we will emerge stronger and more resilient than before – keeping with our mission to change lives with music.

We invite you to visit our donation page.

On behalf of The MusicianShip, we send our best wishes for health and wellness for you, your families, friends, and colleagues.

At DC Music Review we realize that people and organizations are facing very uncertain times. In some of our earlier articles we have tried to list many of the fundraisers to support the employees of many of our local music venues.

We now turn the organizations that have provided so much for our city.  Lastly, we also recognize that not everyone has the means to give. Regardless of having the means to give to any fundraising effort in our community, we encourage everyone to hug each other a little tighter and care for everyone with the utmost comppassion.

Please explore https://www.givelocaltogether.org for a full list of all the fundraisers and non-profits in need right now.
