The Return Of The Residency – Tedeschi Trucks Band Returns To The Warner Theatre For A Six-Night Run

Music lovers in the DMV have an internal clock, a circadian rhythm, that we all know and embrace. That natural musical clock makes us look forward to certain seasonal events. When winter is at its coldest, and we retreat from the elements - however, we innately know that the Tedeschi Trucks Band will perform at The Warner Theatre to warm us up with some much-needed musical heat.

The Tedeschi Trucks Band and their February Warner Theatre appearances are some of the most eagerly awaited performances of the winter. This event is our musical solstice, and with it comes Susan Tedeschi's impeccable guitar and unparalleled soulful voice, Derek Trucks distinctive and masterful slide guitar, and the raw power of this twelve-piece band.

It is hard to imagine that Tedeschi Trucks first appeared at the Warner Theatre back in 2011 with a singular appearance. Tedeschi Trucks have now appeared at The Warner Theatre every single year since 2014 - pandemic dystopia of 2021 notwithstanding. Fans have watched the appearances grow from a singular night to a two-night run, then to a three-night residence, then a four-night residency, and now a monstrous six-night residency at this historic theatre in the heart of downtown Washington, DC.

What makes these residencies so special is it provides this supremely talented group to explore an especially large range of musical territory with their fans. We have seen tributes to George Harrison, celebrated the release of Signs in 2019, and have been provided snow driving tips by Boston native Susan Tedeschi when a performance coincided with a hefty snowfall a few years ago

In July 2021, the band released Layla Revisited (Live At LOCKN') featuring Trey Anastasio, a live recording of their performance of the classic Derek and the Dominos album Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs at the 2019 LOCKN' Festival. The musicianship of the "now-legendary set" propelled the album to hit the top of the Billboard charts, including #1 Blues Albums, #2 Americana/Folk Albums, #4 Current Rock Albums, and #47 on the Billboard Top 200.

Although Tedeschi Trucks have not transformed a live Warner Theatre appearance to vinyl like a Beacon Theatre or LOCKN' Festival appearance, the band released their February 17th, 2018 concert on their exclusive "Live From The Swamp" series of recordings.  We reach back into that digital archive to remember why we always eagerly anticipate their appearance at the Warner Theatre. We listen to those opening notes of "Midnight in Harlem" and listen with glee as the song evolves into a glowing melodic fire that warms our souls on a cold winter's day.

Last year Tedeschi Trucks delivered a spectacular seven-night sold-out run at New York's Beacon Theatre and  saw the entire group joyously reunite to perform nearly 100 different songs, numerous debuts, and a rare acoustic set. They were joined onstage by surprise special guests Chris RobinsonWarren Haynes, and Marcus King. One can only imagine what this six-night residency will bring fans at the Warner Theatre this year!

Their residency starts tomorrow night - Thursday, February 3rd, and culminates on Saturday, February 19th. We look forward to sharing a seat by the roaring fire that warms us all on a cold winter's day.
