The Wild Reeds Playing Union Stage on Tuesday

The Wild Reeds Playing Union Stage on Tuesday

Abbie Ginis
April 15, 2019

The Wild Reeds are a melodic and harmonic powerhouse of thoughtful lyrics and relatable themes. And the best part? The band is spearheaded by three wildly talented women: Kinsey Lee, Mackenzie Howe, and Sharon Silva.

The  Los Angeles-based band is currently on tour supporting their latest album release Cheers, which was born out of complicated and challenging experiences such as break-ups, deaths, and internal struggles. However, rather than shying away from the pain, The Wild Reeds embrace the difficulties in order to create an album that is tender, sad, and uplifting all at once. Cheers is an album about being human, and everyone will find something about it to connect to.

Reminiscent of Snail Mail and First Aid Kit, with a hint of Beach House, The Wild Reeds are the perfect blend of indie-folk and dream pop.

The Wild Reeds are headlining U Street Music Hall on Tuesday April 16 with Valley Queen playing in support. If you’re looking for a cozy ray of sunshine to brighten up your midweek slump, then this is a show not to miss.

About the author

Abbie Ginis

Abbie Ginis has been a music junkie for as long as she can remember. Hailing from Michigan (Go Blue!), she is eager to continue to explore and be immersed in the DMV music scene. When she's not at concerts, Abbie can be found at the movies or longingly ogling at puppies.
