The Wood Brothers With Special Guest Lindsay Lou Set To Perform at The Music Center at Strathmore On November 16th

Do you hear that thumping bass and sweet honey gravely voice in the distance? Roaring into the DC Metro Area like a freight train?

That sound can only be the sound of The Wood Brothers as they approach The Music Center at Strathmore in Bethesda, Maryland, on November 16th, 2024. Lindsay Lou will be manning the railway signals, clearing a path, and opening for The Wood Brothers this evening.  Why do we use the freight train metaphor to describe The Wood Brothers - listen to "Pilgrim" below, and you will understand why this band captures our hearts.

🎶🎶

 When I step off of that train

I better sit down and wait

Cause a soul can't travel that fast

The best part of me will surely be late

Cause a soul can't travel that fast

🎶🎶

// "Pilgrim"  from Heart is a Hero by The Wood Brothers

Enough about the Red Line and trains - we are here to talk about the world-renowned American band The Wood Brothers - Chris Wood (bass), Oliver Wood (guitar/vocals), and multi-instrumentalist Jano Rix.

The Wood Brothers have learned to trust their hearts. For the better part of two decades, they've cemented their reputation as freethinking songwriters, road warriors, and community builders, creating a catalog of diverse music and a loyal audience who’ve grown alongside them through the years. That evolution continues with Heart is the Hero, the band's eighth studio album. This acoustic-driven album that electrifies Heart is the Hero is stocked with songs that target not only the heart - but the head and hips, too.

Heart is the Hero is just the latest release from the enormous catalog of exceptional, soul-stirring, hip-shaking songs from this Grammy-nominated trio.

"We are never satisfied if we are not searching for new musical recipes, nodding to the uncharted territory that Heart is the Hero covers."

    // Jano Rix

 "We are one of those bands that isn't easily categorized. We know what our strengths are, but we can’t help but push the envelope, as well. It’s too much fun."

     // Chris Woods

"We love records that come from the era of less tracks and more humanity. When you use a computer during the tracking process, you have an infinite number of tracks at your disposal, which implies that nothing is permanent and everything can be fixed.  Tape gives you limitations that force you to be creative and intentional. You don't look at the music on a screen; you listen to it, and you learn to focus on the feeling of the performance."

   // Oliver Woods

Heart is the Hero is just the latest release from the enormous catalog of exceptional Wood Brothers songs. DC Metro Area fans have seen the Wood Brothers perform at The Hamilton, 9:30 Club, and The Anthem over the years.  Now, The Wood Brothers seek to add a new venue to their list of legendary venues where they have delighted fans - the majestic concert hall at The Strathmore.

We can see in our mind's eye Oliver Wood's voice resonating in the hall, while Chris Wood dances to our heart's delight with his upright bass, while Jano Rix puts out that effervescent drum beat behind the brothers. Let us not forget, with revered delight, as the trio gathers behind an antique microphone for an uplifting encore.
